Group of Preston Pedals cyclists with their bikes at a station

Join our co-op and help turn the wheels of our machine!

Preston Pedals is a grassroots member-led co-operative in the North West of England that was formed in December 2025. We support people to cycle more through offering expert bicycle repair services, showing how to maintain bicycles, organising led rides, refurbishing unused bicycles, bringing people together around the issues that matter to them about cycling in Preston, and more.

If you support what we do and/or have ideas about how we could do things better, why not become a member of Preston Pedals co-op? As a member you’ll help improve the quality of life in our community and build a more connected Preston by getting more people moving by bicycle in our city.  As a member you’ll become more involved in the running and direction of Preston Pedals. We recognise that those working and volunteering in the project, as well as others who regularly take part in our activities are best placed to understand what’s needed and trust our members to take decisions responsibly with the support of others.

Apply to be a member if you:
  • Work or volunteer regularly with us (Worker member).
  • Take part in any of our activities (User member).
  • Are an individual or group who supports our aims and what we do (Supporter member).

Membership is voluntary and non-transferable. To join please complete our application form below.

Here’s why people are members of Preston Pedals

It’s a great initiative for Prestonians, for the environment, and for health.

Being part of a brilliant vision and something positive that makes a difference to individuals and the whole community.

I’ve found Preston Pedals supportive and have learned a lot about bikes.

Why join our co-op?

Co-operatives are run by people, the members, who decide together how the business operates and how any surplus is used. Members of Preston Pedals have a say in how the co-op is run and they do that together with other members at General Meetings including the Annual General Meeting (AGM), to which all our members are invited to discuss important issues for Preston Pedals and to help shape our future.

The Directors Group is elected from our members and has overall responsibility for legal and financial matters and for ensuring we are true to our values and ethos.  Member led sub-groups will play a part in, for example, developing how we operate, and organising cycle advocacy campaigns.

What are the benefits?

As a member you will:
  • Play an active role in developing and shaping the future direction of Preston Pedals.
  • Help the Cycle Hub to operate as a successful business rooted in social purpose
  • Have an equal voting right at Annual General Meetings to elect directors, to propose and discuss ideas and to decide on proposals related to our future.
  • Be eligible to stand and be elected as a Director.
  • Be part of Preston city’s co-operative movement and a worldwide movement that’s putting wealth into the hands of local communities.
  •
